Translated 'View Of The Forbidden Gardens', this odd baroque/avant-garde collage has an almost cubist sonority. It features an oddly reworked seventeenth century choral by Samuel Scheidt in the middle section of the piece which is mangled, distorted and interrupted. Pousseur composed the piece in 1973 in memory of fellow composer Bruno Maderna. Unpredictable pauses and chord voicings make this a fascinating work by one the Darmstadt School's favourite Belgian.
